Job Title: Health Clinic Assistant

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Campus Health Clinic Assistant is responsible for assisting the School Nurse with daily health and compliance-related matters on the campus. With appropriate training and supervision, this position will perform basic first-aid measures, when applicable.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- As designated by school nursing personnel, assists self-directed students to take assigned medications that are kept in the school health office.
- Follows established school procedures for care and reporting of injuries and illness. Consults with school nursing personnel regarding unusual or difficult problems.
- Assists the school nurse in physical, visual, auditory and scoliosis screening examinations or other health screening tests of students and employees.
- Assists school nursing personnel with clerical tasks surrounding making referrals to parents resulting from screening procedures and physical examinations.
- Assists with immunization clinics by recording inoculations, preparing individuals and keeping order.
- Assists school nursing personnel in preparing health displays for the purpose of disseminating health and wellness information to students and staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid, preferred
- Experience working in a School Health Setting, preferred but not required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Repetitive motions and periods of prolonged standing.
- Prolonged use of computers.
- Possible pulling, pushing, and lifting of students when necessary.
- Maintain emotional control under stress in a fast paced environment.
